There seems to be a generational disconnect around technology. Millenials eagerly gobble up iPads and Facebook while their parents tut and whine about internet culture. Social scientists bemoan the consequences of smartphones while students tune out their lectures with a game of Angry Birds. Young companies brashly accept the lure of the shiny and new with names like “Palantir” and logos featuring a bitten apple. The youth of today know what they are getting into, but can’t look away or resist a bite. Read more…
“Oh my goodness, this one time, it was so hilarious…” And so begins another story from my good friend R. It takes about 30 seconds in R’s presence to realize that you’re going to start having a good time. Over the years his reputation has grown to the point that when he was introduced to a couple by mutual friends, these people who had never met him before started laughing because they remembered one of the stories about him.

This is one of the slides that Kal-El presented during our first “Friday Conversation” of the year. He was giving a Top 10 list of ways to make the most out of college. He said that too many young men spend their time chasing tail, (he didn’t use those words, but let’s be frank) and that the book of Proverbs calls young men in particular to seek wisdom as opposed to giving themselves over to carnal desires.So then I started thinking about how Proverbs portrays Wisdom as a beautiful woman and I thought, “Well, how am I supposed to picture her? What woman can I think of that is wisdom?” A few google images searches for wisdom yielded nothing. And then I remembered Zelda.
